President Murmu’s Sacred Dip at Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj

Indian President Droupadi Murmu took a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam during her visit to the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj today. This historic moment adds to the spiritual and cultural significance of the world’s largest religious gathering.

A Divine Ritual at Triveni Sangam

Accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, President Murmu reached Prayagraj early in the morning. Upon arrival, she was welcomed with traditional honors before proceeding towards the sacred confluence of Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati rivers.

Stepping onto a floating jetty, the President gracefully descended a ramp and immersed herself in the holy waters, a ritual believed to cleanse the soul and bring divine blessings. Before the dip, she also fed migratory birds, showcasing her reverence for nature.

Visit to Akshayavat and Bade Hanuman Temple

After her sacred bath, President Murmu visited the Akshayavat tree, a revered symbol of immortality in Hinduism. The tree holds immense significance in Hindu scriptures and is believed to provide eternal blessings to devotees.

She then offered prayers at the Bade Hanuman Temple, an important religious site dedicated to Lord Hanuman. This visit highlights the deep-rooted traditions and faith associated with the Maha Kumbh Mela.

Digital Maha Kumbh Experience Centre

Embracing modern technology, President Murmu explored the Digital Maha Kumbh Experience Centre, where pilgrims can witness an immersive virtual experience of the grand festival. This initiative aims to blend spirituality with innovation, making the essence of Kumbh Mela accessible to devotees worldwide.

Unprecedented Security Measures and Traffic Disruptions

In anticipation of the President’s visit, Prayagraj witnessed heavy security deployments. Traffic congestion was reported on major routes leading to the city, with law enforcement controlling vehicular movement. The Prayagraj Sangam railway station was temporarily closed, and a one-way traffic system was enforced at Prayagraj Junction to manage the influx of visitors.

A Historic and Spiritual Moment

President Murmu’s participation in the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 marks a historic moment, following in the footsteps of India’s first President, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, who also took a holy dip during an earlier Kumbh. This visit further strengthens the spiritual and cultural legacy of India’s most revered festival.

After completing her pilgrimage, President Murmu departed for New Delhi at 5:45 PM, leaving behind an inspiring message of faith, devotion, and national unity.
